The best push notification apps for Shopify are Brevo PushOwl for most stores, Firepush for a lower monthly price with SMS built in, Omnisend for stores that run email first, and PushAlert for stores that also sell on other platforms. All four offer abandoned cart push, and all four start with a free plan.
When I compare Shopify push notification apps, I look past the feature list. Almost every app now promises cart recovery, price drop and back-in-stock alerts. The real differences are how the app charges you (per send, per contact or per subscriber), which plan unlocks cart recovery, and how many merchants actually use it. So every price and rating below comes from each app’s own Shopify App Store listing or pricing page, checked on November 3, 2026. Shopify bills in your store’s currency, so the amount you see may differ slightly.
What are the best push notification apps for Shopify?
Four apps stand out for Shopify stores in late 2026. This table compares them on the points that decide the bill.
| App | Best for | Shopify rating (reviews) | Free plan | Cart recovery starts on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brevo PushOwl | Most stores | 4.8 (2,306) | 500 web pushes/month | Plus, $19/month |
| Firepush | Push plus SMS on a budget | 4.8 (198) | 500 web pushes/month | Free plan to test; Basic $13/month for volume |
| Omnisend | Email-first stores | 4.7 (3,200) | Email only | Standard, priced by contacts |
| PushAlert | Stores on several platforms | Sold on its own site | 3,000 subscribers | Basic, $12/month |
Ratings and review counts are from the Shopify App Store on November 3, 2026. They change daily, so treat them as a snapshot.
What should a Shopify push notification app do?
A Shopify push notification app should collect opted-in shoppers in the browser and then message them without needing their email address or phone number. For a store, that breaks down into two jobs.
- Broadcasts: new collections, flash sales, discount codes and blog posts, sent manually or on a schedule.
- Automations: abandoned cart reminders, browse abandonment, price drop and back-in-stock alerts, and shipping updates triggered by store events.
Broadcasts are easy, and any tool can send them. Automations are the reason to use a Shopify app rather than a generic script, because the app reads cart and product events from your store. However, those automations usually sit on paid plans, so check the plan, not just the app. For the browser side of how web push works, see web.dev’s push notifications overview.
How do the top Shopify push apps compare?
Each app suits a different kind of store. Here’s what stands out and the trade-off that comes with it.
1. Brevo PushOwl: best for most Shopify stores
Brevo PushOwl is the most reviewed push app in this list, with a 4.8 rating from 2,306 reviews and a launch date of July 31, 2017 on its listing. It’s now a web push, email and SMS suite powered by Brevo.
- Free (Basic Bundle): 500 web push notifications a month, unlimited subscribers, back-in-stock reminders, price drop alerts and welcome notifications.
- Plus Bundle, $19/month: 10,000 web pushes a month, abandoned cart recovery automation, hero images and shipping updates.
- Power Bundle, $79/month: 25,000 web pushes a month, flash sale campaigns, browse abandonment and custom automation.
The trade-off is the send cap. You pay by notifications sent per month, so a big list with frequent campaigns moves you up a tier quickly. Prices are from the PushOwl listing and PushOwl pricing page.
2. Firepush: best for push plus SMS on a budget
Firepush carries the “Built for Shopify” badge and a 4.8 rating from 198 reviews. It combines web push and SMS, with notification types for cart recovery, back in stock, flash sales, order updates, price alerts and welcome messages.
- Free: 500 web pushes a month, unlimited subscribers, all features to test.
- Basic, $13/month: 10,000 web pushes a month, all features, priority support.
- Pro, $49/month: 25,000 web pushes a month.
So Firepush undercuts PushOwl at the 10,000-send tier. That said, it has far fewer reviews, and SMS costs are separate from push. Details are on the Firepush listing.
3. Omnisend: best for stores that run email first
Omnisend is an email marketing platform with web push included, not a push-first app. Its listing shows a 4.7 rating from 3,200 reviews. The Free plan covers email only (up to 250 contacts). The Standard plan adds unlimited web push notifications and is priced by contacts, starting at 500 contacts and rising as your list grows.
Pick Omnisend if email is your main channel and push is a bonus. If push is your main channel, a push-first app gives you more push automations for less. See the Omnisend listing for current tiers.
4. PushAlert: best for stores on more than one platform
PushAlert isn’t in the Shopify App Store under that name, but its pricing page lists Shopify alongside WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop and Joomla. That suits a brand running a Shopify store and a WooCommerce or Magento store side by side.
- Free: up to 3,000 subscribers, unlimited notifications.
- Basic, $12/month: automated abandoned cart notifications and rich notifications.
- Premium, $39/month: price drop, shipment and in-stock notifications, plus A/B testing and up to 3 websites.
PushAlert charges by subscriber count rather than by sends, which suits stores that send often to a modest list.
Which Shopify push app should you choose?
Choose by your store’s main channel and how often you’ll send. This table maps common situations to a first pick.
| Your store | First pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| New store testing push | Brevo PushOwl or Firepush free plan | Free tiers with 500 pushes a month |
| Store that relies on cart recovery | Brevo PushOwl Plus | Cart automation at $19/month with the largest review base |
| Tight budget, wants SMS too | Firepush Basic | 10,000 pushes for $13/month |
| Email is the main channel | Omnisend | Push included with email plans |
| Several stores on different platforms | PushAlert | One tool for Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento |

What should you check before installing a Shopify push app?
Check five things before you install, because moving to another app later can mean collecting subscribers again:
- Check which plan includes abandoned cart and back-in-stock automation.
- Check how the app counts usage: sends per month, contacts or subscribers.
- Check whether you can export your subscribers and on which plan.
- Check iPhone support, since iOS 16.4+ web push only works after the shopper adds your store to the Home Screen (WebKit).
- Check recent reviews on the App Store listing, not just the overall rating.
Also, ask for permission with a clear reason. A prompt that says “Get restock and price drop alerts” gives a shopper a reason to click Allow.
Where does LaraPush fit for Shopify stores?
LaraPush isn’t a Shopify app, and I’d be upfront about that. It’s a self-hosted push panel you install on your own VPS, from $499 one-time (see current LaraPush pricing), with unlimited subscribers and domains on one licensed server. Its setup guide covers WordPress, regular websites, AMP, Blogger and iOS, and it doesn’t list Shopify cart-abandonment workflows. So for a Shopify store, one of the apps above is the simpler choice. If you run large content sites or WooCommerce stores alongside your shop, compare it with the other options in the best push notification services and tools guide, or ask the team about your setup.

They can on iOS 16.4 or later, but only after the shopper adds your store to the Home Screen and allows notifications there. Android and desktop browsers don’t need that step. Check each app’s documentation for its iPhone setup.
It depends on the app. Brevo PushOwl and Firepush charge by web pushes sent per month, Omnisend charges by email contacts, and PushAlert charges by subscriber count. Compare the model against how often you plan to send.
